Trip circuit supervision relay TCS provides customer mounting flexibility (3 different mounting styles - DIN35, panel mount, Combiflex), reduces cost and space requirements (it can supervise from one up to three coils circuits in single relay) and provides two principles of operation (supplied with active supply or it is passively supplied). Input voltages are standard substation voltages; 24 VDC, 48VDC, 110VDC, 125VDC, 220VDC.
For proper electrical networks operation, proper protection and circuit breaker operation in meduim and high voltage substations is crucial. For proper circuit breaker operation, healty trip coil circuit is crucial. The healtiness of circuit breaker trip coil circuit is monitored by the trip circuit supervision relay TCS which monitors the circuit in open and close circuit breaker position (ANSI 74TC). In normal operation TCS supervision relay is always energised. In case of trip coil circuit fault, trip voltage fault or TCS relay fault, supervision relay will deenergise and indicate "Trip Circuit Fault".More...

High to medium voltage transformer tap changer position defines transformer output voltage. For SCADA operator is important to know which tap is currently in use. That information is usually provided by bay computer. Tap changer has many tap positions and that would take many terminals, cable wires and digital inputs on bay computer, which is not economic.
